Crystal River Cruises Names German Soprano Vocalist as Godmother to New Ship
Crystal River Cruises has announced that famed soprano vocalist and beloved German performer, Anna-Maria Kaufmann, will be the godmother of the new riverboat of the company Crystal Bach. The ship will sail Rhine, Main and Danube cruises with its twin sister Crystal Mahler.
The newly-built Rhine Class river ship embarked on its maiden voyage from Amsterdam on August 13, and will be christened by Kaufmann in Rudesheim, Germany, on August 20. As a godmother of the Crystal Bach, Anna-Maria Kaufmann will bless the ship during the christening ceremony, and serenade her and attending guests with her special performance of Johann Sebastian Bach's “Air”.
"It is an honor to have one of Germany's most gifted and cherished talents christen Crystal Bach as she officially embarks on the Rhine as part of the award-winning Crystal fleet," said Crystal CEO and president, Edie Rodriguez.
Crystal River Cruises Cuts Free Michelin Restaurant Meal for Most Passengers
Until now, all passengers booked on a Crystal River cruise would have a complimentary meal in a one-Michelin star restaurant during their sailing. The dinner usually took place in Budapest or Vienna during the cruises on the Danube. For example, guests could choose from among Le Ciel Restaurant, Edvard Restaurant, Konstantin Filippou, Tian Wien, Winekitchen or Costes.
From now on, only passengers booked in top-cabin categories: Penthouse (PH) and the two-bedroom Crystal Suite (CS) can get that meal for free. Passengers in other stateroom categories have to pay an additional fee if they want to go on that restaurant excursion.
Though, Crystal has posted on their website that reservations made before August 7 would be honored.
Inclusions that remain for all passengers are drinks, gratuities, a choice of at least two shore excursions in each port, butler service, airport transfers to and from the ship, and up to an hour of free WiFi per day per person.
